About SHRI
The Singapore
Human Resources Institute (SHRI) is a not-for-profit
professional organisation representing human resource
professionals, key decision-makers and interests of over 750,000
employees in Singapore. They come from a diverse range of
industries in the private and public sectors. Founded in 1965,
SHRI is committed to promulgating sound, effective and
appropriate human resource practices. It is also dedicated to
promoting and maintaining high standards of professionalism in
human resource management and development.
An active player in the regional HR scene, SHRI is a member of
the Asia Pacific Federation of HRM (APFHRM). SHRI was further
affirmed of its contribution to the HR profession when Singapore
was elected to take over from the United States and United
Kingdom to assume the Secretary General and Treasurer role of
the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA)
for the term 2006-2008. In May 2006, SHRI hosted the 11th
World HR Congress and Business-Connect Exposition, which was the
biggest international HR event ever to be held in Singapore.
Through collaborations with professional organisations and
institutions of higher learning, SHRI continues to impact the HR
profession, helping to mould the Nation’s human capital to
world-class standards. Offering lifelong learning opportunities
through courses ranging from the Basic Certificate in HRM and
Certificate in Financial Services to the Master of HR, MBA and
Master of Applied Finance, SHRI’s programmes are designed to
accommodate students with different educational qualifications
and career aspirations.
In addition to organising seminars and conferences, SHRI also
conducts regular workshops on a variety of related topics to
meet the developmental needs of human capital from diverse
industries. These workshops provide fellow professionals with
ample opportunities to network and keep abreast of current HR
issues and government policies. Its close alliance with both
international and regional HR institutes enables the Institute
to keep up with the latest in global HR tends and development.
With the resounding success of the 11th World HR Congress and Business-Connect Exposition 2006 under our belt,
SHRI continues to work in tandem with Singapore’s transformation to a knowledge economy and enable its workforce to meet the
challenges of the global economy.
