The Singapore HR Congress
and Business-Connect Exposition 2008
Building Human Capital
Capabilities for Businesses Today and Tomorrow
The
Singapore HR Congress and Business-Connect Exposition is the distinctive
platform in Singapore where business and HR communities meet annually to
find breakthroughs in people management concepts, programmes and
practices. A signature event organised by Singapore’s national HR body –
Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) – the Congress brings CEOs,
business leaders and HR practitioners together to exchange views and
solutions on global business and HR challenges.
The
CEOs and Business Leaders forum is a unique feature of the Singapore HR
Congress as participants are provided with the rare opportunities to
gain insights and fresh perspectives from influential leaders and
thinkers on human capital issues. Participants are also presented with
the chance to surface people management challenges and discuss them with
these global leaders to uncover new ways to resolving pertinent issues
in this competitive and talent-short market.
Focus of the Congress is on current organisational issues and
challenges:
Future of HR
Leading HR Practices
Leadership
Insights into
building and managing human capital capabilities will keep the Singapore
HR Congress relevant to corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, people
managers, HR executives and professionals.
Special Presentation on The Future of HR Challenges and Issues
by Boston Consulting Group (BCG)
Working together, The Boston Consulting Group and WFPMA have
sought to understand the HR issues facing global organisations
today and, more importantly, in the future. BCG and WFPMA
surveyed more than 4,700 executives from 83 countries on 194
action steps clustered into 17 topics in human resources
management, such as managing demographics and improving
leadership development. The report “People Advantage” not only
explores top future HR challenges on a global scale but also
features regional trends for all continents and local HR
priorities for 17 focus countries.
The report
argues that people strategy needs to reflect a world which is
changing in ways never before encountered. Rainer Strack,
partner at BCG and one of the report's authors, says that
radical shifts in the business environment will change the ways
in which strategy and HR interact: "Talent becomes an ever
scarcer resource than ever, people are growing older and have
fewer children, companies and also individual employees develop
global mindsets, the emotional well-being of employees is
becoming increasingly important. We believe that by
understanding the results of our survey, executives will be able
to create people advantage.”
