SHRI Mentorship Scheme
(SMS)
Doing business
in today’s fast-paced and demanding world requires finding the highest
quality solutions at the lowest cost. However, as pivotal as it may be
to business success, finding these cost effective solutions remains a
difficulty many organisations continue to face.
The Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) recognises this, and has
found that the answer to this struggle lies in mentoring. Mentoring is a
personal enhancement strategy through which a more experienced person
facilitates the development of another by sharing known resources,
expertise, values, skills, perspectives, attitudes and proficiencies.
While the roots of mentoring may be lost in antiquity, its practical
usage is still very much prevalent today.
With this in mind, SHRI decided to set up a mentorship scheme with the
primary focus of enhancing HR practices in Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs) in Singapore. Aimed at increasing the HR capabilities at
organisational level through the sharing of experience and knowledge,
this mentorship scheme is the ticket to business excellence.
In future, SHRI may decide on other areas of mentoring depending on the
interest and needs of SMEs and organisations.
