Postgraduate Diploma in HR and Training & Development (PGDipT&D)

SHRI Academy’s PGDipT&D programme will equip learners with the knowledge on how to connect organisational excellence to people development by systematically training and developing the organisation's people. Learning resources will include simple, efficient, easy-to-follow methods for assessing, planning, and developing high-value people to meet your organisation’s current and future needs.

The programme will benefit HR and non-HR practitioners including those with direct or related responsibilities for driving the training and development agenda in their organisation.

Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates shall be able to:

  • Understand the potential of integrating your company's infrastructure of HR assessment, planning and development tools.

  • Explain how to align your organisation's people with the current and future needs of the organisation by training employees in positions that maximise their value.

  • Allocate training resources to employees based on actual and/or potential contribution to organisational excellence.

  • Describe efficient training and development systems that support different management strategies.

Module 1 - Human Resource Management - 36 Hours

This module gives an overview of the key functions of the human resource department including a segment dedicated to International Human Resource Management.

Module 2 - Human Resource Development - 36 Hours

This module provides learners with knowledge and skills for human resource development functions. Through a project/assignment, learners will develop and acquire the necessary skills and expertise. The module includes an overview of People Developer programme.

Module 3 - Strategic & Change Management - 36 Hours

This module explores and evaluates the concepts and theories of "Strategic & Change Management" and develops learners’ cognitive processes integral to strategic management. Special emphasis is given to the approach of human resource functions towards total operations.

Module 4 - Learning Design & Evaluation – 30 hours

  • Understand how people learn

  • Understand learning needs and translate them into learning objectives

  • Identify and recommend learning methodologies and align them to the stated learning objectives

  • Identify modes of measurements and transfer of learning methodologies

  • Evaluation of learning effectiveness

Module 5 - Train-the-Trainer:  Planning & Delivery – 30 hours

  • Roles and skills of a facilitator/presenter

  • Conduct audience analysis

  • Prepare lesson plan

  • Identify competency (behavioural) based measurements & checklist

  • Identify criteria for learning rooms and visual aids

  • Develop learning materials (workbook, handouts, etc.) and facilitator guides

Course Duration


6 months; 168 training hours
5 modules
Lessons are conducted on Friday evening (7pm - 10pm) and/or weekend (full day; 9am - 5:30pm)


Assessment Methods

Candidates are assessed by assignments and written examinations at the end of each module except for Strategic & Change Management module and Train-the-Trainer:  Planning & Delivery modules whereby assessment is based on Group and Individual Assignments.

Postgraduate Diploma in HR and Training & Development will be awarded by SHRI Academy upon successful completion of the programme and graduates may use the title "PGDipT&D" after their names.


Advancement

PGDipT&D graduates holding bachelors degree are encouraged to enroll for the Master of Science (International HRM) programme, jointly offered by Edinburgh Napier University (UK) and SHRI Academy, subject to validation of the programme and acceptance by the University.


Exemption Criteria

  • Exemptions will be granted to SHRI Postgraduate & Graduate Diploma graduates
  • Approval for exemption is on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the Academic Advisory Board.
