Understanding Balanced Scorecard (HRM125)

The successful achievement of outcomes and delivery of services has become increasingly complex for business and the public sector.  The BSC helps organisations develop a clear line of sight of its financial and non-financial resources in delivering effective services in its rapidly changing environment.

 Objectives

  • To understand what the Balanced Score Card (BSC) is about

  • To understand the role of BSC in leadership, setting vision/goals, alignment of planning and organisational performance, inspiring & communicating with followers, and  monitoring organisational performance

  • To understand how to build an effective BSC and how to integrate into your organisation.  How to manage the barriers and difficulties in implementing?

Outline

  • What is the BSC - concept and its components?

  • How does it link with:
    - leadership,
    - strategic, business and operational goals/plans,
    - developing a performance focused culture,
    - communicating and engaging the followers,
    - leading through change,
    - reporting and monitoring processes,
    - re-alignment of strategic focus and future planning?

  • How to implement BSC?  Identifying and overcoming barriers and difficulties.  Including the examination of case studies on the implementation and sustaining BSC.

  • How to identification performance measures/indicators?

  • How to develop effective monitoring and review processes and how this aids the vision of the future?

Who Should Attend

Strategic, HR, service delivery and finance practitioners who are responsible for or involved in strategic planning, managing change, performance monitoring or aligning service delivery with organisational directions.
