Two memorable experiences stood out for me – one with my CEO and the other was with my Chief HR Officer. The experience with my CEO occurred during his closing address at one of my company’s leadership development programs. His simple question was “What’s next?” This simple question if reflected and acted upon earnestly, will prevent us from being complacent and drive us to conscientiously think ahead always.

The second experience was a conversation with our CHRO during this year’s HR leadership meeting. When asked what words of wisdom she could offer to guide us into 2011, she said “Always stay close and relevant to the business”, which we all knew was meant to inspire us to continue to add value and be strategic partners to the business.

If I may add, I would say, “Stay close to doing what you love, stay relevant and ahead by developing future capabilities needed to be successful in the near future”.

Nothacker and Singapore Human Resources Institute to Provide Free Email and Web-hosting Services for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises Affected by Telecommunication Disruption

1. Nothacker Pte Ltd (Nothacker), an incubatee company of  Exploit Technologies Pte Ltd (Exploit Technologies), together with Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI), today announced the offer of free email and web-hosting services through LiveSME platform to small- and medium-sized enterprises affected by telecommunications disruption due to the Taiwan earthquake on 26 December 2006.

2. LiveSME is a web-enabled platform that improves productivity by automating business operations from payroll to customer orders. The platform not only decreases the time spent on operations, but also increases the value of the business. The business intelligence suite of solutions also provides businesses with insight and fresh perspective to their operations.

3. “Exploit Technologies takes full stride to transform technologies developed by A*STAR’s researchers into marketable products. Our efforts in commercialising A*STAR’s technologies value-add to the society as they realise their full potential to help the community in time of major crisis. I am pleased that our incubatee company is tying up with SHRI to roll the service out to its members and other SMEs in this critical time of need,” said Mr Boon Swan Foo, Executive Chairman, Exploit Technologies.

4. “The availability and exchange of quality information is key to businesses in a highly networked society. As a SME, we fully understand the pain caused to the business operations by the recent earthquake. Therefore, we would like to extend our helping hand to fellow SMEs affected by the disruption,” said Mr Lim Chinn Hwa, Founder, Nothacker Pte Ltd.

5. “SHRI understands that putting businesses quickly back on track is important. In this age of connectivity and high dependency on information, we cannot afford to lose communication with business partners and the rest of the world. As such, SHRI and Nothacker decided to provide a service under LiveSME for our members, the business and HR communities, who are affected by the Taiwan quake to resume their business operations through the provision of free hosting of website and email services. The purpose of LiveSME is to simplify business operations. This is part of SHRI continual effort to provide shared services for small- and medium-sized enterprises,” said Mr David Ang, Executive Director, Singapore Human Resources Institute.
