Global
Survey Report Raised Doubts:
Are Singaporean Companies Losing Its Talents & Now, It's Leadership
Capability?
SHRI reveals more at Singapore HR Congress & Business-Connect Expo
1.
Talent
management appears to be on almost every Singaporean company’s agenda as
disclosed by the global survey that reached out to more than 4,700
business leaders in 83 countries. This mammoth exercise to get insights
into what business leaders and executives viewed about HR challenges
globally through 2015 also revealed the need to improve leadership
quality across the globe.
2. Singapore is
experiencing labour shortage. The talent pool here is scarce and
talented Singaporeans are drawn to big financial and legal institutions
overseas. Increasing globalisation and competition has resulted in
talent as the new source of competitive advantage. Most often than not,
the success of a talent management strategy is closely connected to the
belief and focus of the top leaders on this.
3.
Both talent management and leadership improvement form the
top two urgent challenges of not only Singaporean organisations, but
also organisations from all over the world. These challenges pose
serious problems for companies here. Companies who fail to address it
may cause loss of knowledge and productivity.
4.
Why are Singaporean
employees attracted to the ‘world outside’ when paradoxically,
multi-national corporations and global employers are attracted to
Singapore to set up headquarters and offices? What can Singaporean
companies do to provide a workplace where employees call it home as
well?
5.
These questions are
no doubt that of the Congress participants as they hear for the first
time in Singapore, the findings of The Future of HR survey where
Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) has the privilege of
disclosing to over 1,000
participants, comprising market
and HR leaders, practitioners and executives,
from the 5th
to 7th May at the Singapore HR Congress. This global HR
survey was the work of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the World
Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA). SHRI has held
the baton of the project in Singapore. Participants will get a
complimentary executive summary of the full report.
6.
On the 5th May, the Congress will feature a special presentation on the report
“Creating People Advantage: How to Address HR Challenges Worldwide
Through 2015”. Dean Tong, Senior Principal Consultant
of Boston Consulting Group (BCG) will give a special presentation. He
will share and discuss the intensity of the report and its impact on the
HR industry in the near future, from local and global perspectives.
7.
Mr
Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry,
the guest-of-honour will grace the occasion.
Also, take the
chance to meet influential HR experts who will discuss pertinent HR
issues and challenges including Leadership & Talent Management, Industry
Best Practices and Global HR & Business.
