SHRI Leading HR Summit 2006
Singapore’s first batch of HR professionals with an accredited status
that puts them at a cutting edge in the workforce
1. Singapore will see the first
batch of HR professionals being awarded a professional HR status that will put
them at a competitive advantage among their peers at the SHRI Leading HR Summit
2006, 17-18 August.
2. The HR Accreditation
Framework, which was introduced earlier this year, allows existing and
aspiring HR practitioners to assess their own qualifications and work to
improve their competency levels. This framework will also enhance their
employability, allowing employers to establish benchmark and upgrade the
skills, knowledge and competence required of the HR team.
3. The applicants are
assessed via a points system, where academic qualifications,
professional HR portfolio and professional development will be taken
into consideration by the HR Accreditation’s board, assessment panel,
and the ethics and appeal panel, which includes representatives from
SHRI’s executive council, Ministry and Statutory board, and the business
and HR communities.
4. “HR professionals
are assessed based on their competencies and contribution to the HR
profession. On the 18th August, Singapore will see the very
first group of 34 HR professionals being accredited with a professional
status. They will no doubt feel recognised and more confident of their
capabilities towards advancing the profession. It is a standard that
will make Singaporeans and HR professionals proud,” says SHRI’s
President, Mdm Ho Geok Choo.
5. Accreditation will
soon be made online at the Human Capital Hub (HC Hub), an online
learning and knowledge portal for HR professionals. The HC Hub, powered
by CAMS (Competence Assurance Management System), which enables
management to assess the outcome of knowledge acquisition by employees
against identified competence gaps, will be launched at the Summit.

the Summit to share with the participants their winning HR strategies to
creating great workplaces. Their success and experience will help
participants reflect upon their existing strategies, and dwell on what
works for their employees in this highly mobilised, international
workforce, and what not.
7. There will also be a

2006 winning organisations, to share insights into the leading HR
practices. Included among them are Mr Loy Chye Meng, Commander Training

HR to the organisation’s strategy, they create and modify that strategy
on a continuous basis. They use a variety of techniques, tools, and
styles to promote teamwork, shape collaboration, and promote good
relations at work. SHRI is pleased to sift out and bring together these
leading visionaries to provide unique insights and perspectives into the
HR profession.”
10. This Summit is thus
formulated to provide insights into tried and tested, practical HR
practices from some of the best in the industry, and a glimpse into
individuals who potentially have what it takes to excel in the
industry.
