SHRI Global HR Conference 2006

Expatriate Management and Relocation – Perspectives from across Asia Pacific

1. Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) will be holding its annual Global HR Conference 2006 on Friday, 13 October 2006, at the Meritus Mandarin Singapore, Level 4, Mandarin Court D, Grand Tower.

2. This conference is part of SHRI’s continuing effort to build a community of leading HR practices, by providing opportunities to address key organisational and people issues through the sharing of new insights and solutions by experts.

3. As the Asia Pacific economies grow, there will be increasing trends in global talents recruitment as companies expand or relocate. Expatriate Management and Relocation, the focus of this year’s conference, will dwell on trends, legal, cultural and remuneration issues surrounding expatriate management in Asia Pacific.

4. Mr David Ang, SHRI Executive Director says, “As businesses globalise, talent management and expatriate relocation become a responsibility that often falls on the shoulders of HR departments. However, the varied and complex expertise and procedures required for effective relocation and management go well beyond the sphere of the traditional human resource function. Essentially, HR needs to define, establish and ensure sound policies and guidelines that consider cross-cultural training, legal, business, tax and cost implications of relocation, as well as to safeguard the interests of employer and that of the expatriates.”

5. The conference is expected to draw a niche crowd of Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers and HR professionals who are engaged with management of diverse groups of individuals to ensure sound business performance globally. Speakers at the conference are:

  • Mr Lim Khia Tat, MSHRI, Regional HR Director Asia, Kulicke & Soffa (SEA)
  • Mr Frank Ribout, Vice President APAC, Cartus
  • Mr John Dick, Partner, Freehills
  • Dr Rohith Delilkhan, Managing Director, Swiss Management Forum
  • Mr Joydeep Bose, Vice HR President, Olam International Ltd

6. Global HR Conference offers valuable opportunities for participants to tap into the expertise of leading HR and business leaders. The conference focuses on actual business experience where speakers and participants can share and exchange ideas, offering interesting new perspectives to emerging topics and issues.
