Milestones
SHRI has
entered a new phase of its existence when it celebrated its 40th anniversary in
year 2005, and this existence has been elevated to a higher plane of relevance
and significance in the HR and business arenas, having successfully delivered
and concluded the groundbreaking 11th World HR Congress & Business-Connect
Exposition in May 2006. Our twin appointment and election to the Presidency
office of the APFHRM and Secretary General/Treasurer position of the WFPMA
(2006-2008) are
additional feathers in our cap. SHRI can said to have indeed, fulfilled much in
bringing HR to the fore!
Moving forward, it’s timely that we become more single-minded in embracing HR’s
new mandate – that of value creation. Rightly so, SHRI has entered a new phase
of its existence – transcending from “Bringing HR to the Fore” to “Powering
Human Capital” – and commitment to the human capital industry to help
organisations
and individuals develop and grow people in the new economy.
Human capital means human value. By its name, human capital must transform into
value for its stakeholders. HR, as the function and infrastructure facilitating
that transformation is definitely poised for powerful strategic advantage. It is
thus crucial for SHRI, as the only professional HR body in Singapore, to
effectively and vigilantly support HR to embrace its new mandate by breaking new
grounds to help it create, deliver and sustain value.
Powering Human Capital provides the guiding principle for our new focus and
direction. It embodies the principles and culture of SHRI, its commitment to the
human capital industry to help organisations and individuals develop and grow
people in the new economy. Hence, as we continue to further bring HR to the
fore, Powering Human Capital, most aptly describes our new strive now.
