The Singapore Workforce Skills
Qualifications (WSQ) system is a nationally recognised continuing education and
training system which comprises a competency-based qualifications framework for
the adult workforce. The WSQ is founded on international best practice and
is recognised and endorsed by industry and employers. Service Excellence
WSQ and Employability Skills System form part of the WSQ framework.
Service Excellence Workforce Skills Qualifications (SE WSQ)
Today, it is no longer adequate
to just meet customer needs. A highly competitive environment requires
organisation to move from 'service quality' to 'service excellence'.
SE WSQ has been developed as
a suite of generic competencies which reflect the essential organisational tasks
and functions required to deliver excellent service. Although intended to
be a generic set of competencies, SE WSQ is capable of contextualisation and
integration into any service industry framework. It is intended to be used
flexibly to meet the needs of industry and can therefore be used as independent
modules or in conjunction with WSQ industry frameworks such as retail or
tourism.
Employability Skills System (ESS)
ESS, part of the WSQ framework,
offers training in employability skills - from operational to managerial -
across all industries. Through ESS programmes, individuals will be
equipped with essential skills to enable them to be resilient, adaptable and
more nimble in meeting the demands of today's workplace and changes in
technology or work processes.
